This is the story of Faiq, an eight-year-old boy living in Kampung Guntong, Johor. He loved spending time at the Sungai (river) with his Atok (Grandfather).
One sunny afternoon while walking past tall oil palm trees, Faiq discovered a strange, smooth, deep purple seed pod glowing faintly in the shadow. His Atok, Tok Alang, told him the find reminded him of the Orkid Sinar (Ray of Light Orchid). Legend says this orchid grows in a hidden valley beyond the old coconut grove and only blooms for a true adventurer who finds light in the darkness.
Inspired, Faiq packed his bag with a water bottle, a magnifying glass, and a compass. The next morning, he began his adventure by stepping into the wild belukar (scrubland). His first challenge was crossing a swift stream using a wobbly, half-submerged log.
He successfully crossed, proving his courage. Soon, the trees opened to reveal the hidden valley, complete with ferns and a sparkling little waterfall. In the center, he found the Orkid Sinar sitting on an old stone, but its petals were tightly closed.
Faiq realized he didn't need the flower to glow because his brave adventure was the true light. He began his journey home, already planning his next trip.
