Produktbeschreibung
"The Shaving of Shagpat; an Arabian entertainment - Volume 2" is the continuation of George Meredith's fantastical narrative, echoing the enchantment of tales like the "Arabian Nights." In this volume, the quest of Shibli Bagarag, the intrepid barber, to shave the formidable Shagpat deepens, drawing readers into a labyrinth of magic, mischief, and mystery. Shagpat's unshorn hair, the source of his power, remains a formidable challenge. As Shibli navigates a series of trials, he encounters an array of bewitching characters, from sorcerers to seductive maidens, each adding layers of complexity to his journey. Meredith masterfully weaves themes of fate, ambition, and the dichotomy of good versus evil into this rich tapestry of storytelling. With its lyrical prose, vivid imagery, and profound allegories, this volume builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, cementing "The Shaving of Shagpat" as a notable classic in the realm of fantasy literature.

Autorenporträt
George Meredith OM (February 12, 1828-May 18, 1909) was born in Portsmouth, United Kingdom. He was an English poet, writer, and author, whose books are noted for their intelligence, extraordinary dialogues, and aphoristic way of writing. Meredith's books are also recognised for psychological studies of character and a highly subjective perspective on life that is a long way ahead of its time, considering women are equals to men in all streams. His most popular works are The Ordeal of Richard Feverel (1859) and The Egoist (1879). He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature seven times.
