Produktbeschreibung
"The Shaving of Shagpat; an Arabian entertainment - Volume 3" is a segment of the whimsical tale crafted by George Meredith. Channeling the spirit of the "Arabian Nights" and drawing from Middle Eastern myths, Meredith weaves the narrative of Shagpat, whose immense power lies in his untouched mane. As the story unfolds, the protagonist, Shibli Bagarag, a humble barber, is set on the almost impossible mission to shave Shagpat, leading him into a whirlwind of magical escapades, formidable challenges, and encounters with fantastical creatures. This volume, like its predecessors, revels in allegory, spotlighting the deeper themes of destiny, the relentless pursuit of ambition, and the eternal clash between good and evil. Meredith's intricate storytelling style, combined with a cast of memorable characters and a richly imagined world, ensures "The Shaving of Shagpat" stands out as both a classic of fantasy literature and a profound meditation on human nature and desires.

Autorenporträt
George Meredith OM (February 12, 1828-May 18, 1909) was born in Portsmouth, United Kingdom. He was an English poet, writer, and author, whose books are noted for their intelligence, extraordinary dialogues, and aphoristic way of writing. Meredith's books are also recognised for psychological studies of character and a highly subjective perspective on life that is a long way ahead of its time, considering women are equals to men in all streams. His most popular works are The Ordeal of Richard Feverel (1859) and The Egoist (1879). He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature seven times.
