She achieved notable success with her first novel, The Leavenworth Case, and went on to write many other detective stories that captivated readers. Her works were recognized for their intricate plots and attention to detail, influencing the development of the mystery genre. Green married Charles Rohlfs in 1884, and they remained together until her death on April 11, 1935, in Buffalo, New York.
