Why is this book important? This book is important because it not only speaks of the geophysical history of China but also affirms the truth of the Holy Bible's global Flood and the Creator's purpose in the horrific cataclysm which left only eight human survivors from whom all humans living today derive.

Why is this book important? This book is important because it not only speaks of the geophysical history of China but also affirms the truth of the Holy Bible's global Flood and the Creator's purpose in the horrific cataclysm which left only eight human survivors from whom all humans living today derive.

The Chinese have pondered for millennia what force seemingly changed the course of the upper Yangtze River (Jinsha Jiang, the Gold Sand River), racing southward off the uplifting Tibetan Plateau in far western China, to abruptly turn eastward to flow then through Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing, and Shanghai - the heartland of China. The phenomenon of river capture - the course change of a river channel following a major flood - is well known today to geologists and river engineers. Author Vernon Bissell, as a "rivers professional," records in this bilingual (English and simplified Chinese) book the monumental upper Yangtze River capture during the falling levels of the Bible Flood, the greatest flood in recorded history. It was the famed Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan Province - cut down during highest flows to less than 6,000 ft elevation between two 18,000-foot "snow mountain" peaks separated peak to peak by only 16 miles - that snagged the great river to bless (and sometimes trouble) China's land and people.

What makes this book credible? First, the Holy Bible has uncountable affirmations of authenticity, so Flood evidences in China just add to a long list of global Flood evidences around the world - no surprise to Bible readers. More affirmation? Numerous ancient Chinese oral histories of a great flood, written language characters, and unmistakable Flood remnants speak persistently and consistently to any inquirer. And for the world's filling population, the final chapter deals with God's Flood purpose to also bless mankind following the great terrible cataclysm, including great promises for the finally reconstituted people of Israel in the land of Israel.

Autorenporträt
Dr. Vern Bissell (PhD, Civil Engineering - Water Resources) was employed by the U.S. National Weather Service as a hydrology researcher for five years, followed by twenty-two years in operational river forecasting in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Vern's interest in China's rivers began with research and conference visits to Nanjing and Huangshan in 1989 and 1992. The "aha moment" relating China's rivers to the Great Flood of the Bible came in 2005 on a hiking trail at Qingcheng Shan, the purported birthplace of Taoism. It was then and there that Vern suddenly realized they were climbing a mountain many hundreds of meters high, composed of rounded boulders and cobbles (flood rocks!) - all the way to the top - at the eastern terminus of the Tibetan Plateau. That was the first "aha moment," the first "seed" for this book, with many others to follow.
