The Asia-Pacific region has been enjoying fast growing economy. As President Barack Obama's "pivot to Asia" strategy indicates, this region is an engine for the world economic growth. Yoneyuki Sugita is professor of history at Osaka University. He has been writing on US-Japan relations, Japanese foreign and security policies, and Japanese health insurance systems.
