The Magus, the Arkane's founder and creator of magick, is Nic's centurion grandfather, and Marlowe, as Lady Babalon, is required to assist the Magus complete a ritual to die, Crossing the Abyss, by using her powers to protect him from the beast that guards the abyss of death. Her tension of working with the powerful Magus is slowly replaced with a growing respect for the man and his magick.

As the Magus teaches her the intricate details of the ceremony, Marlowe gains a greater awareness of her powers and the expectations of her as Lady Babalon.

Every Arkane in the hierarchy of dark magick will be waiting to see how well she performs her task.

I live in the hill country of central Texas, writing as a full-time author, listening to or creating music, and just chillin' in the garden. Whatever sets the mind free.

I got my first tarot cards at age ten, and for my current Lady Babalon series, I used the tarot's Major Arcana to establish a hierarchy for my characters. You don't need to know tarot to understand the magick, but most of my readers admit to "having their cards read" after their exposure to the Lady Babalon series.

In another trilogy that I wrote, The DayStar series, I built a story around the idea of immortals living among us. How exciting, or how boring would it be to live thousands of years? What would you look for? What would you treasure? What would you be called - names are a game in my life anyway!
