Dr. Helmut Kohl, geboren 1930 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, ist seit 1947 Mitglied der CDU. 1959 wurde er Mitglied des Landtages von Rheinland-Pfalz und war. von 1969 bis 1976 Ministerpräsident des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz. Von 1973 bis zum 7. November 1998 war er Bundesvorsitzender der CDU. Er war Mitglied des Deutschen Bundestages von 1976 bis 2002, von Dezember 1976 bis Oktober 1982 Oppositionsführer als Vorsitzender der CDU/CSU-Bundestagsfraktion. Vom 1. Oktober 1982 bis 27. Oktober 1998 war Helmut Kohl Bundeskanzler der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
