This book is and was inspired by people and places I have seen and experienced, and that have touched my life. In 2006 I had a massive heart attack, which led to progressive heart failure, culminating in a heart transplant. It was carried out in Murcia, Spain, at Arrixaca Hospital. Whilst in hospital, I began to scribble down thoughts, and have carried on since, hence the title Travel with a Heart. Being born in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, and having served in the army during the war, there is a large African content and influence. I hope you enjoy the read and the photos.

Autorenporträt
I was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia in the late 50's, where I went to a local school, Ellis Robins. I had an idyllic childhood, growing up in a place where one could explore the bush and enjoy its wonders, from which was born a love of wildlife, nature and the local African people. After leaving the army, I moved to the UK, where I met my wife. Following a career in sales, we moved to North Norfolk, where I used to paint in my spare time, often pictures of wildlife and the Norfolk coast. The year 2000 saw us move to Spain with a plan to retire. Whilst renovating our own finca in Leiva, on the Costa Calida, I had the first heart attack, which ultimately led the transplant on February 14th 20007.
