Autorenporträt
Dirk Holtmann is a leading expert in electrobiotechnology and industrial biotechnology, with over two decades of experience in advancing sustainable bioprocess technologies. He studied Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Magdeburg, Germany, focusing on electrochemical monitoring of microbial activity for wastewater treatment. Prof. Holtmann has held key research and leadership roles, including Group Leader for Industrial Biotechnology at DECHEMA Research Institute in Frankfurt am Main (2019–2023). Since 2023, he has been W3-Professor for Electrobiotechnology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. His research emphasizes microbial electrochemical systems, process intensification, and sustainable bioprocessing.
