You are, in fact, unrealistic!
Promotion is more than a question of skill. You will be disappointed if you put your whole heart into your work and disregard everything else. To accomplish a good work, you must be enthusiastic and talented, but also realistic and wise enough to realize what is good and what is not, what to do and what not to do for yourself. Many Vietnamese think that advancement is a result of luck or an umbrella. Except for me, others strive to dive deep and search for specific forces. Perhaps this is due in part to our own experiences or the way we see things from our own perspective.
We wrote this book to demonstrate you that: Every promotion is different, yet individuals still follow common patterns when deciding somebody to promote. Recognizing those tendencies might help you manage your job more effectively.
We refer to the edition of Who Gets Promoted? Who Doesn't? during the compiling process. Donald Asher's "And Why?" We also highlight successful and unsuccessful examples on the critical journey of Vietnamese workers. Hopefully, after reading this book, you will share real-life examples of your own or a loved one's promotion with us. And who knows, if all goes well, we could release a new edition of your story.
