This is a book that can reach any person. It is a simple truth about what seems to be a complicated subject. By using these points it will cultivate deepen and develop a bond and emotion in the relation of love. This study was designed for frequent referencing when needing a reminder of what is love. It is my hope that reading this book will elevate the mind and the heart to put these facts about love to the test and ill enhance all other studies one might have on this subject. Love is a commitment to responsibility and the responsibility to commit. There is an unending supply of manuscripts depicting love. Could it be that there is someone else writing about love? After all, with all of the printed information about love, is there a need for or even room for one more thought concerning the subject of What Is Love? This book evolves from tragic circumstances. It is an attempt to give real meaning to the question, what is love? By no means am I trying to say that this is the only revelation of love, or the only answer to the question. What I wanted to communicate to the reader or the listener is that there are some absolutes that are real and tangible regarding the meaning of love. The ten points being made in this book are brought from the Bible and can be practiced by Christians and non-Christians alike. That is because the principles apply to both Christians and non-Christians. They are like laws that govern relationships. I had listed a few more than these ten points but I felt that the points in this book were the most important ones, and they covered a broader perspective. Each chapter has been divided into five sections. The first section is the defining point. The second section provides scriptural references from a biblical text for the point being made. The third section has a discussion that is explained in a few paragraphs. The fourth section is an applied marriage application, hopefully able to be applied to todays marriages. And last but not least the fifth section is a question and answer section. The section ends with a discussion for the husband and the wife to participate in, and also includes a thought for the single person to ponder. It is my sincerest desire that after reading this thesis that the question of what is love can be answered, and that there will be a complete satisfaction that needs no further investigation.

Autorenporträt
Dr. Michael Herbert is a professional licensed pastoral counselor with bachelor of arts, master of ministries, doctorate of theology, and doctor of philosophy in clinical Christian psychology and doctor of philosophy in clinical Christian counseling. He is a professional clinical member of the National Christian Counselors Association. He holds from the NCCA a licensed clinical pastoral counselor-advanced certification, licensed clinical Christian counselor, certified temperament counselor, and he is a clinical supervisor-diplomate. His advanced or board certifications include death and grief therapy, temperament therapy, sexual therapy, child and adolescent therapy, cognitive therapy, group therapy, substance abuse and addiction therapy, crisis and abuse therapy, domestic violence and intervention therapy, and integrated marriage and family therapy. First and foremost, I am a Christian counselor for Core Christian Counseling. As a Christian counselor I believe that hiding our beliefs and trying to do value-free counseling is both unwise and impossible to do, so I want you to know what my important values and beliefs are. Like most counselors, I recognize that personal problems can come about because of physiology, social environmental influences, and psychological pressures. I also believe that many problems can be spiritual in nature, resulting from either not understanding biblical truth or from sinful behavior. I also believe that individuals are created in God's image and can only feel complete and fulfilled through relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Thus, Christian counseling, as opposed to other kinds of counseling, is very concerned with the spiritual as well as the emotional and physical needs of clients. The main goal of Christian counseling, like the goal of Christian living, is to enable clients to move toward greater emotional and spiritual health by becoming more like Jesus Christ. As a Christian counselor, I am not limited to psychological techniques or to my own human effort and wisdom. I believe that God is the real authority in counseling and He gives us the resources to change. I believe that counseling without the Jesus factor is about as effective as applying a Band-Aid over a bacteria-infested wound. I believe counseling should involve praying about the client's difficulties and looking to the authority of the Bible for guidance. In this way, I seek to encourage clients to build a dependency on God. The client can find forgiveness for the past, strength and comfort for the present, and hope for the future by trusting the Lord to daily meet needs and heal emotional wounds. I try to reflect the character of Jesus Christ and to love my clients as He does. While I do not try to force religion on my clients, I do urge them to develop a relationship with the only true healer of body, soul and spirit, Jesus Christ.
