Excerpt: I pitied him, although with that many guards around, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed thirty security officers to supervise one guy in handcuffs? At this distance, I couldn't tell if he was wearing leg shackles. His short brown hair was ruffled by the breeze as he stepped away from the van. My head slowly turned to continue watching him. It was as if I couldn't look away. The man paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes held mine. The energy that usually came with my magic rose even though no sound left my lips. It felt like sunlight was running through my veins, as it only did with the strongest songs I had ever sung. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly disoriented and realizing I had forgotten to breathe. My eyes went back to the passing trees, trying to spot a gap in the trees so I could see him again. I had no such luck. Please note that this story has a heavy dose of the "love-at-first-sight", mate bond, overprotective partner, kidnapping, and damsel-in-distress tropes. Bedroom scenes are fade-to-black.
