Zoey Wheeler, 15, is a debut novelist, artist, and varsity tennis player whose first novel, Why They Run, explores how young people find their own path in a world full of expectations. Inspired by her passion for reading and her habit of creating vivid worlds and characters, Zoey weaves real emotion and personal experience into every story she tells. She fell in love with storytelling in grade school, and her journey as a writer faced an early test when she lost nearly one hundred pages of her manuscript-an experience that almost ended her project but ultimately reignited her determination to write stories she would want to read herself.Zoey's writing draws deeply from her own fears of comparison and not measuring up-feelings familiar to anyone with siblings or peers to compete with. As the youngest triplet and and the sister of two older college students, she once struggledto find her own identity, learning over time that being herself brings the approval and love she most values.
