The road of life, broad, spacious, and magnificent, carries thousands upon thousands of creatures. It is like a river. It begins at its source with a birth, and ends at its mouth with an effusion, an effusion into that greatest ocean for which you can hardly find a depth. The sun comes to this ocean, extracting life from it in clouds, returning it to those sources, irrigating it, and nourishing it, so that it returns to its first life, from birth on the tops of the earth at a spring, and then finally effusion at an ocean, in a never-ending cycle, unless a sun is unable to extract life, and far from it! The author says, "And I tried to stop on this road, in the grandest and most magnificent procession of life, asking myself, about this road, why it was, how it was, and what was the crowding on it, but its ongoing traffic refused me to stop on it."
