Luis R. Vieira, PhD in Biology, is an Assistant Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) and an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Porto, Portugal. His research focuses on Aquatic Ecology and Ecotoxicology, covering several priority topics, including planktonic ecology and biodiversity and the impacts of emerging contaminants and other pressures on aquatic wildlife. He is also working on the science-policy-society interface, multi-sectoral stakeholder engagement, and promoting ocean literacy. He has authored and edited several international books, book chapters and scientific articles in refereed journals. Fernando Morgado, PhD in Biology, is an Associate Professor with Aggregation at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Environmental and Marine Sciences (CESAM), with activities in national and international university institutions, research laboratories, NGOs and governmental institutions. His research focuses on Marine and Estuarine Ecology, including Planktonic Ecology and Biology, Aquatic Ecotoxicology, Environmental Education and Science Outreach activities. He has written, co-written, edited or co-edited more than 200 publications, books, book chapters, Special Issues and articles in refereed journals.
