Schon während seines Aufenthalts in Paris, auf dem Weg ins amerikanische Exil, erhielt Walter Jurmann einen Vertrag als Komponist bei MGM in Hollywood. Ab 1935 entstanden - in Zusammenarbeit mit namhaften Textdichtern - zahlreiche Songs für Filmstars wie Deanna Durbin, Clark Gable und Judy Garland.
